Monroe Lodge #19 - U.N. Pilgrimage for Youth

On a cold February afternoon, Rebekah District #9, the Monroe Odd Fellows, and the Lincoln Park Rebekahs held a speak off. The winners (2) would be sent on the United Nations Pilgrimage for Youth trip in July. We didn't have a great turnout of spectators, probably due to the "Blizzard of 2003" the night before. We did however, have four high school girls participating in the speakoff.

LaSean, Danielle, Crystal, and Vanessa took their turns in front of all assembled, and each of them impressed everyone there.

These four girls all gave impressive speeches. They also told about their school and community activities. As one of the judges, I can attest to the fact that pointwise, there was not much difference between 4th place and 1st place.

We wish we could have given four trips away, because all of them deserved one. Unfortunately, we only had two trips to offer.

Congratulations to all four, and here's wishing Crystal and Danielle a GREAT trip!
